Senior Celebrations is a non-profit organization that has been serving and connecting seniors to the community through several initiatives over the past few years. Our organization has teamed up with members of the Lyons Township Cross Country team & student council to enrich the lives of local senior living residents.
Senior Celebrations has done many projects with the seniors of Plymouth Place, including the Lion Mile & 5k, which allowed us to support the reconstruction of the Carhart Garden - an impactful environment for seniors and their loved ones to connect after the enduring pandemic. In the past, we have done StoryCorps interviews, archived in the Library of Congress, entailing the stories of senior citizens to be saved for years to come. We have also worked with Lyons Township's Student Council to assist in the delivery of holiday cards and over 400 handwritten/typed letters during the midst of the pandemic to connect.
We have advertised our 5K at lots of local LaGrange and Western Springs Events such as the La Grange Pet Parade, the La Grange Rocks 5K, The Western Springs Tower Trot 5K, the Western Springs Summer Fest and our own Lion Mile & 5K!
Graham Sackley and Jack Meyers from Senior Celebrations received the Junior Monarch Legacy Award in 2022 from Plymouth Place Senior Living, along with Dr. Joseph Kerwin, the first medical doctor in space.
